Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9

Congratulations on your orders to HSC-9. HSC-9​, home to the World Famous Tridents, is an operational squadron attached to Carrier Air Wing EIGHT onboard the USS GEORGE H. W. BUSH (CVN 77). HSC-9 employs the MH-60S for the following missions: Search and Rescue, Plane Guard, Medical Evacuation, Anti-Surface Warfare, Personnel Recovery / Combat Search and Rescue, Non-Combatant Evacuation, Vertical Replenishment, Helicopter Visit Board Search and Seizure, Strike Coordination and Reconnaissance, Close Air Support, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection. As the first east coast transition squadron, the first squadron to receive the armed version of the MH-60S, and the first east coast HSC/CVW squadron to deploy with an HSM/CVW squadron, HSC-9 continues to set the standard for the future of the helicopter carrier community.


The Tridents here at HSC-9 are looking forward to welcoming you to the best helicopter squadron in the Navy. We want to help make your transition here to HSC-9 as smooth as possible. As you receive orders and being the move, you will be assigned a sponsor from within the command. Please coordinate with your sponsor to help with details of your move. If you have orders and have not received a sponsor please contact our HSC-9 Sponsorship Team (email below) or call the quarterdeck and we will be happy to help. Please keep your sponsor informed of travel plans, especially your arrival date or any changes, so we can assist you as necessary. As you arrive at the squadron please check in with the quarterdeck to have your orders stamped and help you get checked in.

Arriving by Car: HSC-9 is located at 1340 CV Tow Way Dr. on Naval Station Norfolk. Gates 2 and 3 are closest and can all be accessed from I-564.

 

Arriving by Plane: Prior to arriving at the airport please contact your sponsor to coordinate transportation. Transportation can also be coordinated through the Military Information Booth located on the first level of the Arrivals Terminal (baggage claim) , (757) 444-3040.  The USO Welcome Center is also available on the second level of the Arrivals Terminal (baggage claim), (757) 233-0567. Operating hours for the USO are 0900-2359 everyday.

 

CONTACT THE QUARTERDECK OR YOUR SPONSOR FOR THE UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS UPON INITIAL CHECK-IN.  IF YOU ARE TRAVELING OVERSEAS TO A PORT OF CALL CIVILIAN CLOTHES ARE REQUIRED, YOU WILL NOT BE IN UNIFORM WHILE TRAVELING ABROAD.

Note:  Bring all records, orders, endorsements, travel-related receipts, new address, etc.  After hours, please make sure you leave a good contact number (i.e. cell phone/relative/friend), in case we need to reach you prior to the next work day.
