Cmdr. Greg "Spare Parts" Siegert
A native of Roswell, Georgia, Cmdr. Greg Siegert graduated from Villanova University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and received his commission as an Ensign through the ROTC. He holds a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College where he graduated from the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School. Siegert reported to “The Huntsman” of Tactical Operations Control Squadron (TOCRON) 11 at Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville as the executive officer in March 2022 and assumed command in May 2023.
Siegert’s operational assignments include the “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 based at NAS Brunswick, Maine, and later NAS Jacksonville, Florida. During his tour he served as the aircraft maintenance division officer and the aviation safety officer while qualifying as a P-3C instructor pilot. Follow on sea tours include serving as the assistant operations officer onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), where he qualified as the officer of the deck (underway) and as assistant command duty officer. Following a transition to the P-8A, Siegert was assigned to the "Fighting Tigers" of VP-8 where he served as the operations officer and qualified as a P-8A instructor pilot.
Siegert’s shore assignments include Training Squadron (VT) 10, where he instructed naval flight officers in the T-6A Texan II. Siegert also served as the deputy executive assistant for the Director, Air Warfare (OPNAV N98), on the staff of the deputy chief of naval operations, warfighting requirements and capabilities.
Siegert’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, and various other awards. He has logged over 2,800 flight hours in the T-34C, C-12, P-3C, T-6A, and P-8A.
