LCDR Kurt A. Welday

Lieutenant Commander Welday is Supply Officer, Regional Supply Office / Aviation Support Detachment, Oceana, VA under NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center, Norfolk, VA.

He received his commission through Naval Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and completed the Supply Officer Basic Qualification Course in 2006.

He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and earned a Master of Business Administration and Petroleum Management certificate through the 811 Program from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS.

His sea assignments include Assistant Supply Officer, Disbursing Officer, and Sales Officer, USS Russell (DDG-59) in Pearl Harbor, HI; and Aviation Support Officer (S6), USS Harry S Truman (CVN-75) in Norfolk, VA.

Shore Assignments include Aviation Support Division Officer for Commander, Fleet Air Forward in Misawa, Japan; Weapon Systems Officer with the Littoral IWST at NAVSUP WSS in Mechanicsburg, PA; and Joint Petroleum Officer and Joint Logistics Planner for the Logistics and Engineering Directorate, United States Central Command, MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL.

Lieutenant Commander Welday is a qualified Naval Aviation Supply Officer and Surface Warfare Supply Corps Officer.
In his prior Navy service as an Electronics Technician, he qualified Nuclear Reactor Operator and Reactor Operator Instructor.

Personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various unit and service awards.
