Capt. Brian Becker is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance in December 1994. He received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps in January 1995, and was designated a naval aviator in May 1997. He received orders to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106, Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Florida, for initial F/A-18 training.

In April 1998, he completed Fleet Replacement Squadron Training and was assigned to the “Valions” of VFA-15. Becker completed two deployments onboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) and USS Enterprise (CVN 65) supporting Operations Allied Force and Southern Watch. His follow on assignment in October 2001 was to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center where he served as an instructor at the United States Navy Fighter Weapons School.

Becker was assigned to the “Warhawks” of VFA-97 in November 2004, as the training officer and completed the 2004 Unit Deployment Program (UDP) to Iwakuni, Japan. 

He was assigned to the “Jolly Rogers” of VFA-103 as a department head and served as the administrative officer, operations officer, and maintenance officer. Becker completed one deployment onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) supporting Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In December of 2007, Becker was assigned to the Navy Personnel Command as the strike fighter assignments officer.

Becker served as the executive officer and commanding officer of the "Tomcatters" of VFA-31 and completed one deployment onboard USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) supporting Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In November of 2013, Becker was assigned to the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command in Norfolk, Virginia, as a joint planner and the J-33 current operations chief. He earned an Executive Masters of Business Administration from the Navy Postgraduate School in March of 2016.

In February of 2018, he reported to Commander, Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic and served as deputy commodore and commodore through May 2021. He is currently Chief of Staff for Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.  

Becker has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours and more than 700 arrested landings. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, six Strike Flight Air Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, one with combat “V”, and various other unit and campaign awards.
