Capt. Geoffrey P. McAlwee



Capt. Geoffrey McAlwee, a native of Melbourne, Florida, graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science, with Honors, in Ocean Engineering. He was designated a naval aviator in 1999.  
 
Operational assignments include Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 112 where he served as landing signals officer (LSO) and maintenance quality assurance officer (QAO), deploying with Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 9 aboard USS John C Stennis (CVN-74) supporting operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom, Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 30 where he served as maintenance officer and detachment officer-in-charge deploying with CVW-9 aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) supporting Operations Noble Eagle and Northern Edge, and with CVW-11 aboard USS Nimitz (CVN-68) supporting Operations Noble Eagle and Neptune Scissors, and served as commanding officer, providing carrier onboard delivery (COD) support for 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th Fleet operations.
 
Shore duty assignments include United States Naval Test Pilot School, as fixed wing test pilot graduate, Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 20 where he served as E-2/C-2 project officer, Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic (COMNAVAIRLANT), where he served as the E-2/C-2 Class desk officer, Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW) 120 Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) where he served as the executive officer, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), Strategy, Plans, and Policy (J-5) directorate, where he served as action officer for the deputy director for global policy and partnerships, executive assistant to the vice director, and the CJCS representative to the framework secretariat.
 
McAlwee has accumulated over 3,350 flight hours and 350 carrier arrested landings in 26 different Type/Model/Series aircraft. His personal military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Awards), Air Medal (1 Strike/Flight), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (4 Awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (2 Awards) and various other personal, unit, and campaign awards.
