Command Logo

Station SAR Key West formally established as a squadron on October 1st, 2024 and aligned under the Commander, Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic (COMHELSEACOMBATWINGLANT) chain of command. The insignia depicts a rising sun over teal blue water with a light blue sky. The foreground will have a blue marlin breaching from the water. The background has the Loggerhead Key Lighthouse with two beams of light emitting from the lens. These images represent the following:

a.  Blue Marlin. The blue marlin is a fish native to the waters of the Florida Keys. Key West SAR has incorporated a marlin in several iterations of unofficial unit morale insignia, and use “Marlins” as their callsign.

b.  Loggerhead Key Lighthouse. Loggerhead Key is the westernmost and last island in the Florida Keys archipelago and underlies the Tortugas Military Operating Area (MOA).  This lighthouse has provided protection to mariners in the Keys since 1858 and is representative of the protective nature of the SAR mission set.

c.  Sunrise. The rising sun symbolizes the new beginning given to those who are rescued.
