The mission of VAW-123 is to develop and maintain a high level of personal and professional readiness in order to provide airborne command and control to accomplish our national priorities and win our nation’s wars. In order to accomplish our mission, there are three pillars that are critical to our success.
Sailors and families remain the foundation of our warfighting capability. The success of the “Screwtop” team can only be accomplished if you and your families are ready. Take care of yourself, your family, and the team will take care of you here.
We take pride in having the finest Hawkeyes in the Fleet because flawless execution of the basic maintenance has been completed by professionals performing at the highest levels. We are able to execute without doubt or uncertainty because collectively, we are experts. Our planes are ready because we are ready.
Effective programs make a safe and efficient squadron. You will be afforded every opportunity to learn, understand, and hopefully manage a program. You will be asked to be professionally curious in learning your program and make your program the best in the Navy.
These pillars cannot be achieved without a personal dedication to performance. Be confident and strive for excellence in everything you do. Seek additional responsibility and achieve advanced qualifications. By working together, we will effectively harness our talents in order to get the job done anytime, anywhere. Eventually, you will be asked to train and mentor your relief. By having an open mind and a willingness to learn how the “Screwtops” do business, you will see why you are joining the finest E-2 squadron in the entire Navy.
As “Screwtops”, we are all part of an amazing legacy. Across the globe, the “Screwtops” is synonymous with tactical and professional excellence. It is critical we uphold these high standards that have become the hallmark of this warfighting unit – The “Screwtops” Standard!
