Command Master Chief
CMDCM Santiago Jaramillo
Command Master Chief Santiago Jaramillo is a native of Connecticut. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in May 1999 and reported to Recruit Training Command in August 1999. Following completion of training, he reported to Electricians Mate “A” school in Naval Service Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois.
His duty assignments include USS Monterey (CG 61) in Norfolk, Virginia, from May 2000 - March 2004. During his time aboard Monterey, he advanced to 3rd and 2nd Class Petty Officer. From May 2004 to June 2007, he served as a canvasser recruiter at Navy Recruiting District Buffalo and New England. Upon completion of this recruiting tour, he transferred to USS Benfold (DDG 65) in San Diego, California, as the Electrical “E” Division Work Center Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer from July 2007 to July 2012. While on board, he completed multiple Western Pacific deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following this tour, he was selected to Chief Petty Officer and was assigned to Southeast Regional Calibration Center (SERCC) at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. from October 2012 to July 2015. He served as the Physical/Dimensional Calibration Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO), Administration/Supply Department LCPO and Senior Enlisted Leader. After leaving SERCC in 2015, he reported to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 8 in Rota, Spain where he served as the Maintenance and Material Management (3M) System Coordinator. During this tour, he was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer and subsequently for the Command Senior Chief Program. He reported for duty to Littoral Combat Ship Squadron (LCSRON) 2 in Mayport, Florida, to complete Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) training pipeline. In April 2020, he reported to USS Milwaukee (LCS 5) where he served as the Command Senior Chief. Upon successful completion of this tour, he reported to the “Dragon Whales” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 28 in June 2022 where he served as the Command Master Chief.
In March 2025, Jaramillo reported to the “Gunslingers” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 105 where he is currently serving as the Command Master Chief.
Jaramillo is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 203 (Blue) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), Navy Recruiting Service ribbon and various unit service and campaign awards.
