Force Master Chief Chris Chelberg
Force Master Chief Chris Chelberg enlisted in Aug. 1990 after graduating high school and completed boot camp at Recruit Training Command Orlando, Florida.
Chelberg’s sea duty assignments include: Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 137 (1991-1994 & 2011-2014) during his second tour he served as the maintenance master chief; VAQ-131 (1994-1996 & 2014-2017) during his second tour he served as the command master chief; Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 87 (2000-2002); VAQ-130 (2005-2009); Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3 (2019-2021).
While on sea duty, Chelberg participated in both carrier and expeditionary deployments in support of Operations Southern Watch, Deny Flight, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and Freedom’s Sentential.
Shore assignments include: Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School, Millington, TN; Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois (1996-2000); Navy Recruiting District Minneapolis (2002-2005); VAQ-129 (2009-2011); Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (2017- 2019).
He currently serves as Force Master Chief at Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.
His academic achievements included a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He graduated from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in 2006 and the Command Master Chief Course in 2014.
Chelberg was recognized with the Commander Electronic Attack Wing Pacific Chief Petty Leadership Excellence award and has earned the Aviation Warfare, Surface Warfare, and Master Training Specialist designations. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
