CMDCM (SW/AW) Craig Johnson


A native of Santa Rosa, California, Master Chief Craig Johnson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1995, and attended Basic Training and Electronics Technician (ET) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois.

His sea duty assignments include duty on an aircraft carrier, frigates and a destroyer. During these tours, he deployed to multiple theaters throughout the world. He served as Leading Petty Officer aboard USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), Combat Electronics (CE) Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS Samuel B. Roberts (FFG 58), Combat Systems Department Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS Thach (FFG 43), and CE Leading Chief Petty Officer aboard USS Sterett (DDG 104).

His shore duty assignments include satellite technician, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NAVCOMTELSTA) Bahrain; satellite technician, Joint Communications Support Element MacDill Air Force Base; maintenance technician, Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity, Mayport, Florida; and Team Leader, Afloat Training Group, Mayport.

His previous command tours were with Littoral Combat Ship (LSC) Crew 201, which was permanently stationed aboard USS Independence (LCS 2), USS Dewey (DDG 105), and Naval Air Station Meridian.

Master Chief Johnson is designated an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist and Afloat Training Specialist. He is a graduate of the Advanced Command Master Chief Course, the Command Master Chief Course, and Senior Enlisted Academy. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), and various campaign and service medals.
