CMDCM Michael G. Smith
Master Chief Smith currently serves as Command Master Chief onboard the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). He is a native of Texas who enlisted on December 21, 1992. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command and Seamanship Apprentice School at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
Smith’s previous sea duty stations include USS Virginia (CGN 38) Norfolk, Virginia; USS Ashland (LSD 48), Little Creek, Virginia; USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), Mayport, Florida; USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69), Norfolk, Virginia; USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77), Norfolk, Virginia; USS Tortuga (LSD 46), Norfolk, VA; USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Norfolk, VA.
Smith's shore duties include Naval Reserve Center, New Orleans, Louisiana; Training Support Center, Great Lakes, Illinois; and Afloat Training Group Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia.
His duties have included Command Master Chief, Fire Controlman, Boatswain Mate, Combat Systems Maintenance Manager, NPDC Navy Region Mid-west Command Career Counselor, Command Maintenance and Material Manager (3MC), Instructor, and Command Equal Opportunity Manager.
Smith’s education and qualifications include Associate of Science for Electro-mechanical Engineering from Excelsior College, United States Senior Enlisted Academy Class 137, CMC/COB Ethics Course, Advanced CMC Course, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, Afloat Training Specialist, and Naval Leadership Development Facilitator.
