Command Senior Enlisted Leader
AFCM Carrie Barry
Master Chief Carrie Barry is currently serving as the senior enlisted leader for Naval Aviation Training Support Group (NATSG) New River of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Barry joined the Navy from Colorado Springs, Colorado in November of 1996 and arrived for basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
She attended follow on training at Aviation Structural Mechanic “A” school in Pensacola, Florida and P-3C Structural Mechanic "C" School in Jacksonville, Florida.
In 1997 she reported to the “War Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 16 in Jacksonville, Florida where she served as a collateral duty inspector while deploying to Sicily and Iceland.
In 2001, she continued her Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Aircraft (MPRA) adventures with Patrol Squadron (VP) 30 in Jacksonville, Florida where she served as a full systems quality assurance representative (QAR).
In 2005, she reported to the “Golden Swordsmen” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 47 in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where she served as a full systems QAR and qualified to release aircraft safe for flight while deploying to Qatar, Iraq and Japan.
In 2007, she was selected for advancement to Chief Petty Officer and subsequently transferred to Naval Aviation Schools Command (NASC) in Pensacola, Florida. During her tour, she trained basic water survival to enlisted aircrew and officers for the aviation community and was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
In 2012, she transferred to the “World Watchers” of Fleet Air Reconnaissance (VQ) 1 in Whidbey Island, Washington where she served as the avionics department leading chief petty officer (LCPO), maintenance control supervisor, safe for flight and detachment lead during two 5th Fleet detachments and 4th Fleet detachment.
In 2016, she returned to VP-30 in Jacksonville, Florida where she served as a maintenance control supervisor, quality assurance supervisor and ground government flight representative (GGFR) and was selected for advancement to Master Chief Petty Officer.
In 2018, she returned to the “Golden Swordsmen” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 47 now currently stationed in Whidbey Island, Washington and served as the maintenance master chief and acting command master chief.
In 2021, she chartered into new adventures as she reported to Naval Aviation Training Support Group (NATSG) at Marine Corps Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She is currently serving as the senior enlisted leader.
Barry is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Gold Class 202), CMC/COB Course (Class 120) and holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Human Resource Management from Columbia Southern University. Her personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards) and various sea service, unit awards and personal citations.
