Welcome Aboard
Congratulations on receiving orders to Carrier Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 121! I am excited to have you join the Bluetail team. We are a member of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 stationed at Chambers Field on Naval Station Norfolk. We fly and maintain five of the most technologically advanced airborne command and control platforms in the inventory—Northrup Grumman’s E-2D Advanced Hawkeye.
Our mission is simple:
"Bluetails facilitate, enable, and provide dominant airborne command and control for the carrier strike group and our allies, to win in combat."
In doing so, we are committed to the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. Further, we achieve team success through individual development. You will be afforded many opportunities to grow and advance both professionally and personally while aboard. While it is up to you to seize upon these chances, your leadership will be standing by to assist in any way possible. I have high expectations for you!
Our mission brings us together but our unique relationships keep us together. We embrace a long tradition of “Bluetails take care of Bluetails”. This is not just a saying; it is our way of life and serves as the foundation of our culture.
If you have a spouse, children, or extended family, I consider them to be a part of the team, and I encourage them to participate in our Family Readiness Group by contacting vaw121bluetailsfrg@gmail.com. Our Command Ombudsman is standing by to assist your family at any time too. They can be contacted at bluetailombudsman@yahoo.com. Additional information on the local area and Fleet and Family Services can be found under the "Family" tab.
On behalf of all the Bluetails, I extend a sincere welcome aboard to you. I look forward to your arrival!
Commander Matthew Campbell
