Command Master Chief
CMDCM (AW/SW/FMF) Mikendra R. Porter


Command Master Chief Mikendra R. Porter was born in Greenville, North Carolina and raised in Marietta, Georgia. She began her naval career October 2003 at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, where she attended basic training and Seaman Apprentice School. She served her first tour onboard the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) in Mayport, Florida and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. 

In June 2005, she reported to Hospital Corpsman “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois and received follow on orders to Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. Her subsequent shore and overseas duty assignments include Naval Hospital Okinawa, Japan; Instructor at Hospital Corpsman “A” School, Navy Medicine Training Support Center, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas; attended Field Medical Training Battalion in Camp Johnson, NC; 3d Dental Battalion/U.S. Naval Dental Center, Okinawa, Japan as the Department Leading Chief Petty Officer of Branch Dental Clinics Futenma and Kinser; Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command, Okinawa, Japan as Senior Enlisted Leader for the Directorate of Branch Clinics and the Directorate of Medical Services; and Navy Medicine and Readiness Training Command Portsmouth as a Department Leading Chief Petty Officer. 

Her operational duty assignment includes 3d Marine Air Wing, Marine Aircraft Group 39, Camp Pendleton, CA as the Navy Senior Enlisted Leader. She deployed with Marine Wing Support Squadron 372 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from September 2016 to June 2017 where she served as the Air Combat Element Navy Senior Enlisted Leader, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Bahrain. 

In February 2021, she was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program and was subsequently selected to Command Master Chief in February 2023 and assigned as the Command Master Chief of Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. Command Master Chief Porter currently serves as the Command Master Chief of Fleet Logistics Support (VRC) Squadron 40. 

Master Chief Porter holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare from Southern New Hampshire University, Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management from Trident University and Associate of Science in Health Science Technology from Coastline Community College. She is a graduate of the Naval War College Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 206/Red) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 21120). 

Command Master Chief Porter qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and holds the certification as a Master Training Specialist. 

Her personal military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2nd award), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
