Mission
Deploy Combat Ready Detachments . . . Grow Leaders
Helicopter Maritime Strike Wing Atlantic (HSMWL) is an operational and administrative Type Wing composed of the Wing Staff, the east coast MH-60R Fleet Replacement Squadron, two Expeditionary squadrons, three Carrier Air Wing squadrons, one Reserve squadron, the Helicopter Maritime Strike Weapons School Atlantic, the Surface Rescue Swimmer School, and a Carrier Tactical Support Center.
HSMWL is responsible for all aspects of manning, material readiness and type training of the units assigned when shore-based, and as appropriate when they are deployed. Although this basic responsibility extends throughout the employment cycle of individual squadrons and detachments, direct management control is normally exercised only when these units are homeported.
The unit is assigned permanent duty at Naval Station, Mayport, FL. The HSMWL Commander is also responsible for the production and logistics efforts of the Aviation Support Detachment Mayport. This activity supports the HSM Community's Maintenance and Supply requirements.
The Wing is directly responsible to Commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet
