Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Atlantic

Command History

Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Atlantic, established 10 June 2005, combined Weapons and Tactics Units of COMHSWINGLANT and COMHELTACWINGLANT to form a single shore-based command headquartered in Norfolk, VA. In 2016, the MH-53E Weapons and Tactics Unit was combined with HSCWSL. HSCWSL provides tactical training to Commander, Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic HSC and HM squadrons.

The HSCWSL insignia acknowledges naval legacy and embraces our dynamic future.
The Hawk is a symbol of strength and power as well as the namesake of the community’s helicopter, the H-60. The black background, moon and the hawk’s green eyes, emphasize our dedication to lead the expanding capabilities for training and operating in the night environment. The blue sea symbolizes our naval heritage, while the Helicopter is the symbol of the vehicle that enables our training. The crossed swords is a dual use symbol for the sensors and devices with which we train and the defense of the maritime environment.
Our motto, “Fortis in Armis” means “Strength through arms.”  |  |  Navy FOIA  |  DoD Accessibility/Section 508  |  No Fear Act  |  Open Government  |  Plain Writing Act  |  Veterans Crisis Line  |  VA Vet Center  |  FVAPDoD Safe Helpline  |  Navy SAPR  |  NCIS Tips  |  Site Map  |  Privacy Policy  |  Contact Webmaster | Information quality | Public Use notice | Useful Links
