Cmdr. Mike "Backstreet" Greenstreet 


Cmdr. Mike “Backstreet” Greenstreet is a native of Pylesville, Maryland and a 2006 graduate of Temple University with of Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a minor in Mathematics. He also holds a graduate degree in Management from American University.
 
Cmdr. Greenstreet was designated a naval aviator in September 2008 and qualified as a MH-60S pilot at the Fleet Replacement Squadron in Norfolk, Virginia.
 
He has served in a variety of sea assignments. His assignments include Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 28 where he served as Schedules Officer, SAR Officer, and assistant operations officer while deploying with USNS Comfort (T-AH-20) in 2010 during HADR operations in Haiti and supporting U.S. 6th Fleet onboard USS Mount Whitney while forward deployed with Detachment One, Naples, Italy. He reported to USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) as the aircraft handling officer, deploying with the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) in support of Commanders, U.S. 6th and 5th Fleets. Reporting to HSC-26, he served as squadron operations officer and as detachment officer-in-charge on board USS Kearsarge, deploying once again to the 6th and 5th Fleet area of operations.
 
His first shore assignment was as an instructor pilot at HSC-2, the east coast MH-60S Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) in Norfolk, Virginia. There he worked as the Curriculum Officer and was instrumental in the squadron’s implementation of the latest Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Program (SWTP) syllabus. He worked as an analyst in the Investment Division (FMB-2), Financial Management and Comptroller (FM&C) at the Pentagon.
 
He served as the last executive officer of HSC-22 from May 2022 through the squadron deactivation in July 2023, before joining the Chargers as executive officer in November 2023.

Cmdr. Greenstreet assumed Command of HSC-26 on March 6, 2025. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and other various personal, unit, and service awards.
