Cmdr. Christopher J. "Donkey" Lewis

Cmdr. Chris Lewis is a native of Santa Barbara, California, and received his commission from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture. He earned his naval aviator “wings” in April 2007 at Naval Air Station  Whiting Field, Florida.

His operational assignments span the full range of the sea combat community. Lewis served with Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26 deploying aboard USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), USNS Supply (T AOE-6), and to Manama, Bahrain, as part of Commander, Task Force 53.  He was accepted to HSC-84, where he deployed with U.S. Central Command’s Crisis Response Element.  He served his department head tour with the forward deployed naval forces in Atsugi, Japan, with HSC-12 and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76).

Ashore, he served as Commander, Naval Air Forces NATOPS evaluator and instructor pilot with HSC-2 where he deployed aboard USS San Antonio (LPD 17) as part of humanitarian and relief efforts to the New York metropolitan area after Hurricane Sandy.  He also served on the Joint Staff in Washington, D.C. as aide-de-camp to both the 10th and 11th Vice Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

He reported to HSC-28 as executive officer in November 2021 and assumed command in June 2023.
