Cmdr. Veronica A. Anderson
Cmdr. Veronica A. Anderson, a native of Battle Creek, Michigan, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics. She earned a Master of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University in 2020. She completed flight training in Milton, Florida, and designated as a naval aviator in January 2009.
Anderson completed Phase I of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) through Air University, Air Command and Staff College and Phase II JPME through the National Defense University, Joint Services Staff College.
Her operational assignments include two tours with the “Tridents” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9 and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 8, deploying aboard USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77), in Norfolk, Virginia, and the CVW-7 “Freedom Fighters,” deploying aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Her shore assignments include Naval Aviation Warfighting Development Center (NAWDC) in Fallon, Nevada and Navy Personnel Command, PERS-43, in Millington, Tennessee, where she served as the Helicopter Sea Assignments Detailer.
Anderson selected for command in 2021 and reported to the HSC-28 “Dragon Whales” as executive officer in June 2023 and assumed command in May 2024. She has accumulated more than 2,000 flight hours in Naval aircraft. She attributes all personal and unit awards, to include the Meritorious Service Medal, to the dedication and professionalism of those with whom she has served.
