Command Master Chief
CMDCM (AW/IW/SW) Charles E. Doss Jr.
Command Master Chief Charles E. Doss Jr., a native of Wilmington, Delaware, migrated to Vicksburg, Mississippi as a teenager. As a high school senior, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported for recruit training in Orlando, Florida following graduation. Doss holds an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Columbia College Missouri, a Bachelor of Arts from Ashford University in Organizational Management, a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 202 Grey), and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 195).
Doss completed Aerographers Mate ‘A' and ‘C’ school in Biloxi, Mississippi. At sea, Doss served as a weather observer onboard USS Nassau (LHA 4) in support of the Kosovo Campaign, two Mediterranean deployments, and noncombatant evacuation operations in Africa and Albania. Pre-commission the Littoral Combat Ship Mine Countermeasure Detachment 2 in San Diego, California. He also served as the operations leading chief petty officer for Navy Oceanography Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Center where he deployed onboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He was the previous command master chief of Airborne Command and Control Squadron 124 “Bear Aces” Norfolk, Virginia.
Ashore and overseas duty stations assignments include: Naval Meteorological and Oceanographic Training Facility Pensacola, Florida as assistant forecaster, Naval European Meteorology and Oceanographic Detachment Sigonella, Italy as forecast duty officer in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Naval Meteorological and Oceanography Facility Jacksonville, Florida where he was a key component in establishing Naval Oceanographic ASW Detachment Jacksonville, Florida, Navy Oceanography Mine Warfare (MIW) Center Stennis Space, and Fleet Weather Center Norfolk. Doss currently serves as the command master chief for Tactical Operations Command Squadron (TOCRON) 11 Jacksonville, Florida.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and various unit, campaign and service ribbons.
