Capt. Eric McQueen

Capt. Eric McQueen, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, graduated from Arizona State University before commissioning through Officer Candidate School. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer in August 2002. McQueen also attended Central Michigan University and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
McQueen’s operational assignments include four tours and six deployments with F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft strike fighter squadrons. He served with the Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 2, the “Bounty Hunters,” was twice assigned to the VFA-32, the “Swordsmen.” and led the VFA-11, the “Red Rippers,” as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer from 2017 to 2020. His deployments spanned operations in the Western Pacific, Mediterranean Sea, Arabian Gulf, and Arctic Circle, supporting Humanitarian Operation Unified Assistance and Combat Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve.
Ashore, McQueen served as a “TOPGUN” Instructor at the Navy Fighter Weapons School and worked at the Navy Personnel Command as an Aviation Detailer and Placement Officer. He was also a Federal Executive Fellow for the United States Naval Institute and the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a Tactical Aircraft (TACAIR) Analyst for the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Cost Assessment Program Evaluation Department.
McQueen reported as Deputy Commodore for Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic in May 2024 and assumed command of the Wing in November 2025.
McQueen has accumulated 3,200 flight hours and 805 arrested landings in the F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. His military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Strike/Flight Air Medal (four awards), Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy Achievement Medal, and various campaigns, service and unit awards. He was named Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic Weapons System Officer of the Year in 2011 and received the 2018 Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award.
