CMDCM Dexter M. Bryant



CMDCS BryantCommand Master Chief Dexter "Dex" Bryant was born in Norfolk, Virginia, and is a native of New Bern, North Carolina. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and reported for Basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, in October 2003. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Upper Iowa University, an associate's degree in aviation management from Thomas Edison State University and an Electrical Tradesman certification from Ashworth College. 

After completing Boot Camp, he attended Aviation Electrician's Mate "A" school, where he graduated and earned the prestigious Aviation Electricians rating badge.  

Following graduation, he checked into AIMD Oceana as AEAR Bryant, where he worked as an Inertial Navigational Unit and Electrical Generator Technician. He was promoted to Aviation Electrician's Mate Third Class before transferring. AE3 Bryant checked into AIMD Norfolk in 2008. While on board, he served as the 600-division supervisor and qualified in work centers 62A/62B/62C/62D/62E/62F as a Collateral Duty Inspector. Eventually, he was promoted to Aviation Electrician Second Class.

He transferred to the VFA-131 Wildcats in 2011. During his tour, he held the positions of AE technician, AE Supervisor, AE Leading Petty Officer, Full Systems Quality Assurance Representative, Line Division Leading Petty Officer, and Maintenance Control Safe-for-Flight, earning promotions to First Class Petty Officer and Aviation Electricians Chief.  After a successful VFA-131 tour, he checked into Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 12, holding the titles of Maintenance Control Safe-for-Flight, Phase Maintenance Chief, Flight Line Chief, AV/ARM DLCPO, and Aircraft DLCPO, eventually being promoted to Aviation Electrician Senior Chief. He became a VFA-105 Gunslinger in October 2020, serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Maintenance Control Senior Chief, and AV/ARM DLCPO. He earned the Maintenance Master Chief NEC and was selected for the Command Senior Chief program while under the Gunslinger umbrella. He served as the Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic’s Command Senior Chief and was promoted to Command Master Chief. 

Command Master Chief Bryant is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Command Master Chief Course, Advanced Warrior Toughness, and the Senior Leadership Legal Course. His NECs include (8CMC) Command Master Chief, (724B) Maintenance Master Chief, (8CFL) Command Fitness Leader, (8SEA) Senior Enlisted Academy graduate and (807D) Advanced Warrior Toughness Instructor.

CMDCM Bryant has participated in multiple combat deployments in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Freedom Sentinel.  His personal awards include (2) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, (4) Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various unit and campaign awards. He is an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist.
