AOCS Jacob Moody



AOCS MoodySenior Chief Moody is a native of Greenville, North Carolina. He graduated from North Pitt High School in May 1998 and reported to basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, on January 5th, 2000. Upon completion, he attended Aviation Ordnanceman “A” School in Pensacola, Florida, and was designated as an Aviation Ordnanceman. 

In July, he reported to VS-22 Checkmates at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida, where he completed two successful deployments in the Mediterranean aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75). During this tour he advanced to Petty Officer Second Class and obtained his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualification.  In February 2004, he transferred to CNATTU in Jacksonville Florida and held the title as an Instructor for S-3B Initial and Career course.  He was also assigned to NAS Jacksonville Auxiliary Security Force (ASF). During this tour he advanced to Petty Officer First Class and earned his Master Training Specialist (MTS).

In March 2007, he transferred to VS-32, NAS Jacksonville and served as an Ordnance Leading Petty Officer where completed one deployment aboard USS Enterprise (CVN-65) to 5th and 6th Fleet.  Due to VS-32 decommissioning he transferred to the USS Bataan (LHD-5), Norfolk, VA, where he served as G1 Flight Deck LPO, completed one successful deployment to the Mediterranean and provided aid to Haiti in support of Operation Unified Response in January 2010.  He also completed a 12 month long IA tour to Al-Asad, Iraq. 
In September 2011, he reported to CNATTU, as Maintenance training 1011 and 1014 Department LPO.  He led the expansion and integration of the P-8A Virtual maintenance trainers.  During this tour, he was selected to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. 

In November 2014, he transferred to Patrol Squadron Eight (VP-8), where he served as the Ordnance LCPO and then, due to Chief/Senior Chief redistribution, he transferred to Patrol Squadron Five (VP-5) where he earned his P-8A Safe-for-Flight designation and served as Ordnance LCPO and Maintenance Control Chief/Detachment Chief.  During this tour he completed two successful tours to 6th and 7th Fleet. 
In November 2018, he reported to NAS Pensacola Security Detachment where he served as Weapons department LCPO and Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor/Range Safety Officer. In June 2019, he was advanced to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In April 2021, Senior Chief Moody reported to Strike Fighter Weapons School, Atlantic, where he is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader. He has 21 years of distinguished military service.

 Senior Chief Moody’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (10 awards), and other various service and campaign medals.
