Welcome Aboard

First and foremost, I want to extend a warm welcome aboard to you and your family!  I hope you are as excited as we are to have you check-in to the Roman Empire – the largest and finest fighter squadron in the United States Navy.

Our mission at Strike Fighter Squadron 106 is to work as a unified team in providing world-class training to future Fleet Naval Aviators who will fly and fight the world’s most lethal, carrier-based strike fighter – the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.  As we do that together, we also strive to provide an enriching shore-duty to every Sailor that is marked by opportunities for quality time to recharge and professional growth.  Even though the pace of operations here is always incredibly fast, I think you will find it rewarding on every level.

Leadership at the Roman Empire is grounded on a single, foundational philosophy:  All the things that make a good family, make a great squadron.

That means we take care of each other, look out for one another, and do our best every day to make the squadron, our Navy home, the best it can be for everyone.  It means nobody, from the Commanding Officer to the newest Airman, is more important than anyone else.  Everyone’s job here is important!  As such, our fundamental philosophy also means we move forward together, overcome challenges together, and succeed together.  We are one family of warriors.

That all starts the moment you receive your orders to the Empire.  You should be contacted shortly, if not already, by a Command Sponsorship Program representative with contact details of your assigned sponsor.  I encourage you to reach out to your assigned sponsor as soon as possible so we can start helping you and your family with a smooth transition to the local area.  Your sponsor will help you navigate through any and all issues you need help with and always be available to answer any questions you may have.

Again, on behalf of the Executive Officer, Command Master Chief, and every Gladiator, welcome aboard!  We’re looking forward to meeting you!
