Cmdr. William "Lemur" Revell
Cmdr. William Revell, a native of Florence, South Carolina, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation he attended the Georgia Institute of Technology and in 2010 received his Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering. He began flight training in Pensacola, Florida, completing primary flight training in Milton, Florida, and advanced flight training in Kingsville, Texas.
After earning his “wings of gold,” he completed training in the F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft with the “Gladiators” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. His first sea tour was with the “Gunslingers” of VFA-105, where he deployed aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
After his initial operational tour, he was selected to attend Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and graduated as a Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor serving with Strike Fighter Weapons School Atlantic (SFWSL) aboard Naval Air Station Oceana. While attached to SFWSL, he was the East Coast’s subject matter expert on the AIM-9 Sidewinder and aerial gunnery. At SFWSL, Revell also served as the Special Access Program department head.
In 2020, Revell returned to the fleet as a department head with the “Blue Blasters” of VFA-34. During this tour he deployed aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) which supported the NATO executing enhanced air policing and vigilance activity missions as a part of Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO.
Post department head tour, he reported to Navy Personnel Command’s Aviation Officer Distribution division (PERS-43) in Millington, Tennessee. At PERS-43, he served as the F/A-18 East Coast and Japan Placement Officer and also the Assistant Captain Assignments Officer.
Revell reported to the “Tomcatters” of VFA-31 in August 2025 as the executive officer.
Revell has accumulated over 2,200 flight hours and is authorized to wear the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (Strike/Flight), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal, and various other personal, unit, and service awards.
