CMDCM Demetric M. Hairston
Command Master Chief (CMC) Demetric M. Hairston is a native of Columbus, Mississippi. He graduated from Columbus High School in June 1998 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November 1998. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by machinist’s mate “A” school at Service Schools Command, Great Lakes.
At sea, his assignments include service aboard amphibious assault ships USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3), USS Essex (LHD 2), USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), aircraft carriers USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), and submarine tender USS Emory S. Land (AS 39).
Ashore, his assignments include Center for Naval Engineering, Great Lakes; Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, as a recruit division commander; and an individual augmentee tour with Navy Provisional Detainee Battalion 4 at Camp Bucca, Umm Qasr, Iraq.
Hairston was selected for the Command Master Chief program in 2017. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 190, Gold Group) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 171). He served as command master chief of Strike Fighter Squadron 151 “Vigilantes” in Lemoore, California; Surface Warfare Engineering School Command, Great Lakes; and as flag command master chief for Commander, Navy Regional Maintenance Center and Surface Ships Maintenance and Modernization (SEA 21).
He reported as Command Master Chief aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in July 2025.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
