Capt. Gordon Schriver
CAPT Schriver is a native of Edgewood, MD and enlisted as an Electronics Technician in the Navy’s Nuclear Power Program in 1994. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2002 and received his commission from Officer Candidate School in 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Thomas Edison State University and a Master of Business Administration from Charleston Southern University.
CAPT Schriver earned his wings of gold and was designated a Naval Flight Officer (NFO) at Naval Station Norfolk in January 2006. As an NFO, he served as both a junior officer and as Training Officer at Airborne Command & Control Squadron (VAW) 125, as Operations and Maintenance Officer at VAW-121, and as Executive and Commanding Officer of the world famous “Wallbangers” of VAW-117. His enlisted operational assignments include USS Batfish (SSN-681) in Groton, CT, and USS William H. Bates (SSN-680) in Pearl Harbor, HI.
His shore assignments include instructor at Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Charleston, SC; instructor at the Hawkeye Weapons and Tactics Unit in Norfolk, VA; VAW/VRC assignments at Naval Personnel Command in Millington, TN; and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J-7, Joint Force Development Directorate in Suffolk, VA as a Joint Concept Strategist.
CAPT Schriver participated in Operations Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve. He was twice awarded the Navy and Marine Association Leadership Award (O-3 and O-4 recipient), was the 2001 Naval Nuclear Power Training Command Instructor of the Year, and his personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (with numeral 4), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), as well as multiple unit and service awards.
