Capt. Daniel "Prozac" Prochazka

Capt. Daniel “Prozac” Prochazka is a native of Woodbridge, Virginia, and was commissioned from the NROTC program at Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering in March 1999. He is a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power program and holds master’s degrees from Norwich University and the Naval War College and certificates from Georgetown University in Legislative Studies and the London School of Economics in International Political Economy.
After designation as an E-2 Hawkeye aircraft naval aviator, he joined the "Liberty Bells" of Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 115 in Atsugi, Japan, for his initial sea tour. Additional sea duty assignments include VAW-124, the “Bear Aces,” as a training officer; VAW-126, the “Seahawks,” as a department head; VAW-125, the “Tiger Tails,” as the Executive and Commanding Officer, moving the first naval aviation squadron to Iwakuni, Japan; Executive Officer for the Battenberg Cup winning USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), and the Commanding Officer aboard the 6th Fleet and Striking Forces NATO Flagship, USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20), during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He deployed around the world including Operations Southern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, Inherent Resolve, New Dawn, and Enduring Freedom.
He served ashore with VAW-120, the “Greyhawks,” as a fleet replacement squadron (FRS) instructor and Weapons Tactics Instructor; as a student at the Naval War College; and on the U.S. Navy’s Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV) Staff Strategy and Policy Division (N51). Additionally, he served as a Legislative Fellow for Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) during the 113th Congress. His previous job was the Senior Military Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe in Mons, Belgium.
Prochazka assumed the role as the Commanding Officer of USS Harry S. Truman in July 2025.
He has accumulated over 4,250 flight hours and 183 combat missions. He is a three-time (2005, 2012, 2017) winner of the Navy and Marine Corps Association Peer Leadership Award and was the Hawkeye Pilot of the Year. His decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards with one earning a Combat V), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service medals.
