Command Master Chief
CMDCM(AW/SW/IW) Luis Rodriguez
Command Master Chief Rodriguez enlisted in the Navy in May 1998 at Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Miami, Florida. Following completing of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Naval Service Training Command Meridian, Mississippi, for Aviation Storekeeper “A” school.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty with USS Nassau (LHA 4) in Norfolk, Virginia, deploying in 1998, 2001 and 2003. His subsequent fleet assignments were Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 204, New Orleans, Louisiana, completing a one-year Individual Augmentation to Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq; USS Wasp (LHD 1) in Norfolk, Virginia, deploying in 2016 supporting 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations. USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), Norfolk, Virginia, during the ship’s first Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV), work-up cycle, and maiden deployment, which earned the Battle Efficiency, or Battle “E”, award. His shore duty assignments included Headquarter Squadron at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Logistics and Industrial Operations (AIR 6.0) Naval Air System Command, a tour with Task Force 53 (CTF-53), Logistics Forces, Bahrain, and Naval Surface Force Atlantic Norfolk, Virginia.
He was selected to the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program in 2024, and he reported in June 2025 to his current assignment as the Command Master Chief of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 72.
Rodriguez is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 213, Purple), and CMC/COB Course. He is qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Information Warfare Specialist, Afloat Training Specialist, and a certified Master Training Specialist. He holds an Associate in Science in Aviation Business Administration from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Army Achievement Medal, and numerous unit and campaign awards.
