Command Master Chief
CMDCM John C. Carter

Master Chief Carter, is a native of Jackson, Tennessee, and graduated from Jackson Central-Merry High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy August 1992 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois.
Upon completion of basic training, he completed Boiler Technician (BT) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois, and was assigned to USS America (CV 66) at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, completing two deployments and the ship's decommission. Upon rate conversion approval, he attended Aviation Electrician (AE) “A” School in Millington, Tennessee, and graduated in Pensacola, Florida.
Carter's sea tour assignments have taken him on seven deployments with Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 126, Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40, VAW-123, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9, and aircraft intermediate maintenance department leading chief petty officer onboard USS George Washington (CVN 73).
His shore duty assignments include VAW-120, Commander, Airborne Early Warning Wing Atlantic, Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 40, VAW-120.
Carter was selected for Command Master Chief in 2019. He is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 131 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Carter is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Leadership and Ethics Course. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8), and various Unit Awards.
