CMDCM John C. Carter

Master Chief Carter, a native of Jackson, Tennessee and graduated from Jackson Central-Merry High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy August 1992 and completed basic training at Recruit Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois.
Upon completion of basic training, he completed Boiler Technician (BT) “A” School in Great Lake, Illinois and was assigned to USS AMERICA (CV 66) at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia follow by two deployments and decommission. Upon rate conversion approval, he attended Aviation Electrician (AE) “A” School in Millington, Tennessee, and graduated in Pensacola, Florida.
Master Chief Carter sea tours assignments has taken him on seven deployments with VAW 126 VRC-40, VAW 123, HSC 9, and AIMD Department Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73).
His shore duty assignment includes Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron ONE TWO ZERO, Commander Airborne Early Warning Wing Atlantic, Fleet Logistic Squadron FOUR ZERO, Airborne Command and Control ONE TWO ZERO.
Master Chief Carter was selected as Command Master Chief in 2019. He is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of VFA 131 Virginia Beach, VA.
Master Chief Carter is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 170 (Green) and Command Leadership and Ethics Course, Class 212. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (7), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8), and various Unit Awards.
