CMDCM Paul Briggs
Command Master Chief Paul Briggs is a native of Pittsburg, California. He graduated from High School in June of 1996 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy attending basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of basic training he reported to Aviation Electronics Technician (I) Strand “A” School in Millington, Tennessee. He was then transferred to Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field, Florida for “C” School.
His sea tours include deployments on USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) and USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom; Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 125; USS WASP (LHD 1) supporting Operation Odyssey Lightning, VAW-123 as Maintenance Master Chief Petty Officer, twice deploying on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Other assignments include an instructor tour at Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATTU) unit in NAS Oceana, Virginia, and a brief shore tour at VAW-120. His academic achievements include an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Electronics Engineering, a Bachelor’s Degree in Military Leadership, and a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College in Albany, New York. He is a graduate of Class 55 from the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy in October, 2014 and Navy Ethics and Command Leadership Course. He was selected for command master chief in 2023 and is currently assigned as the Command Master Chief of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 131 deployed on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in support of Operation Prosperity Guardian.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit, service, and campaign awards.
