Cmdr. Peter Daniels 


 

CDR T.J. YoungCmdr. Peter Daniels is a native of Hudson, Ohio. He attended the United States Naval Academy, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering in 2008. After earning his designation as a Naval Aviator in October 2010, Cmdr. Daniels reported to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106, the “Gladiators,” at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana, Virginia, for initial training in the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet.

Cmdr. Daniels joined the “Knighthawks” of VFA-136 based out of NAS Oceana in 2011. There, he completed the last cruise aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, flying 25 combat missions over Afghanistan.

After departing the fleet for the first time, Cmdr. Daniels reported to Training Squadron (VT) 7 in Meridian, Mississippi in 2015. As a training qualified landing signal officer, Cmdr. Daniels taught more than 250 student naval aviators in the art and science of carrier operations.

Reporting back to VFA-106 in 2017 as an instructor, he continued to teach before moving to the “Tomcatters” of VFA-31 for a "Super Junior Officer" tour, where he became one of the last AIM-7 Sparrow shooters in the Navy.

In October 2018, Cmdr. Daniels reported to the “Fighting Checkmates” of VFA-211 for his department head tour. There he completed two deployments, in support of Operations Inherent Resolve and Freedoms' Sentinel aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75). In 2021, Cmdr. Daniels reported back to VFA-106 for another tour as an instructor pilot, where he continued to mold the future of Naval Aviation. Additionally, he graduated Beta Sigma Gamma from the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary in 2023 with a Master of Business Administration.

Cmdr. Daniels has amassed more than 2800 flight hours between the T-34 C, T-45 A/C, F/A-18 A-F, and has arrested landings on eight aircraft carriers. Cmdr. Daniels’ personal awards include the Strike/Flight Air Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as numerous campaign, unit, and service awards.
