VFA83 Command PhotoCongratulations on your orders to STRIKE FIGHTER SQUADRON EIGHT THREE  (VFA 83)! We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to "The World's Greatest Strike Fighter Squadron". We eagerly anticipate your arrival, and look forward to having you on the RAMPAGER team.

If you are entitled to movement of dependants and household goods, the government will fund such movement to Norfolk, Virginia. Because the assignment is designated by SECNAV as arduous sea duty, you may also elect to have HHG's shipped to a location you designate in the continental United States. You can find out more about the Norfolk military community at the Commander, Naval Region Mid-Atlantic website. HHG shipments may be tracked via the Norfolk Navy Housing Offices.

When we are not at sea or on detachment, STRIKE FIGHTER SQUADRON EIGHT THREE calls NAS Oceana's Hangar 111 its home. If we are not in port then check in with TPU/Beach Detachment at Naval Station Norfolk. You are encouraged to report between the hours of 0700 to 1600. If you use any commercial transportation or taxi service en-route to us, be sure to save all receipts for reimbursement on your travel claim. Uniform of the Day is required when checking onboard. Directions to NAS Oceana can be found here.

When we receive your orders, you will be assigned a command sponsor who will be available to answer any questions you may have and/or to assist you in any way possible. Please advise your sponsor of your expected arrival date and any assistance you may require. We urge you to contact the squadron if you do not hear from your sponsor within a couple of weeks of receiving your orders.      This will enable us to better provide you the information you need to make a successful transition to VFA 83. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We're here to help and are looking forward to your arrival.

The squadron duty office number is (757) 433-9533. If the squadron is underway, you may contact CVW-3 at (757) 708-5716.
You are embarking on an exceptional journey of extraordinary growth and personal achievement. Anticipate with zeal the many challenges and rewards that await you as the newest member of the RAMPAGERS. Again, Welcome Aboard and RAM ON !
