COMMAND HISTORY

Fleet Logistics Multi-Mission Squadron (VRM- 40) was established on 24 March 2022 as the U.S. Navy’s first East Coast CMV-22B squadron.  Based in Norfolk, VA at Naval Station Norfolk, the “Mighty Bison” are executing the Navy’s transition from the C-2A Greyhound to the CMV-22B in order to provide flexible logistical support to aircraft carriers. The CMV-22B is a multi-engine, dual-piloted, self-deployable, medium lift, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) tilt-rotor aircraft, which has an increased operational range, faster cargo loading/unloading, increased survivability and enhanced beyond-line-of-sight communications compared to the C-2A.
