Cmdr. Alex Glass graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and commissioned in May 2006, earning his "Wings of Gold" in September 2008.

Cmdr. Glass has held shore duty assignments in the Fleet Replacement Squadron, VAW-120, where he served as assistant operations officer. He also assisted in the Operational Test and Evaluation of the E-2D. In 2016, he was hand-picked for duty as the E2/C2/VRM detailer in Millington, Tennessee where he was in charge of community management, mentorship and career progression of 810 naval aviators and 14 commands worldwide.

He has had the privilege to work with amazing aviators and sailors during his operational sea duty assignments including VAW-126 where he was the line division officer, NATOPS officer and safety department head. In 2014, as the flag aide to Commander CTF-70, Glass forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan and made four deployments on two Carriers in 21 months. He returned to Japan for department dead tour in 2018, deploying with VAW-125 in the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, where he was the safety department head and operations officer. He assumed command of VAW-123 the “World Famous” Screwtops" in March 2024 in the middle of major combat operations in the Red Sea area of responsibility, during their historic deployment.

Cmdr. Glass has logged over 2,500 flight hours in four variants of the E-2 and has over 500 carrier arrested landings aboard five aircraft carriers. He has flown 144 combat missions in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Inherent Resolve, Yukon Lightning, Prosperity Guardian, and Poseidon Archer. 

His personal decorations include the Air Medal with Combat “C” device, the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “C” device, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He is also the recipient of the 2010 Rear Admiral A.C. Read Navigator of the Year award. He graduated from the U.S. Naval War College, with a Masters of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies in 2022.
