Command Master Chief
CMDCM (AW/SW) Michael J. Taylor
Master Chief Michael Taylor is a native of Wewahitchka, Florida, and enlisted in the United States Navy in August 2000. He completed recruit training in Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by Mineman “A” School at Mine Warfare Training Center in Ingleside, Texas.
At sea, he was forward deployed with USS Raven (MHC 61), USS Guardian (MCM 5), and individual augmentee tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as duty onboard USS Freedom (LCS 1), USS Independence (LCS 2), USS Fort Worth (LCS 3), USS Coronado (LCS 4), USS Sioux City (LCS 11), USS Billings (LCS 15), and USS Little Rock (LCS 9). Ashore, he has served onboard Navy Support Activity Panama City, Florida, and Naval Munitions Command Unit Charleston, South Carolina. He has seen multiple Western Pacific and Persian Gulf deployments in support of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has deployed throughout the Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, South America, and conducted operations and port visits in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Taylor is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course in Newport, Rhode Island. His personal awards include the Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Combat Action Ribbon, the Army Combat Action Badge and various unit and campaign awards.
