Master Chief Petty Officer (NAC/AW) Joshua Allan Cooper
Master Chief Joshua Cooper enlisted through the Delayed Entry Program in September 1999 and completed Aircrew Candidate School, Rescue Swimmer School and Aviation Electronics Technician “A” School in Pensacola, Florida.
His sea duty assignments include the “ Gunbears” of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron (HC) 11 November 2003 thru March 2005 as the avionics supervisor; the “Blackjacks” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 from March 2005 thru September 2006 as detachment quality assurance supervisor; the “Wildcards” HSC-23 from September 2006 thru December 2007 as the training and tactics leading petty officer, where he was meritorious advanced to petty officer first class; the “Dusty Dogs” of HSC-7 as the operations and training leading chief petty officer from September 2011 thru October 2014; the “Dragon Whales” of HSC-28 from December 2017 thru December 2020 serving as the Operations leading chief petty officer and command senior enlisted leader.
His shore assignments include the “Redtails” of Fleet Composite Squadron (VC) 8 Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico as avionics and line shack supervisor from June 2001 thru September 2003; the “Fleet Angels” of HSC-2 as CNAL Evaluator, and Training leading petty officer from December 2007 thru September 2011, where he advanced to chief petty officer in 2011; and the “Pioneers” of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 1 from November 2014 to December 2017.
He was advanced to master chief petty officer in July 2021. In November 2021, he reported as the command senior enlisted leader at Helicopter Sea Combat Weapon School Atlantic where he is currently assigned.
His academic achievements include a Master of Arts in Emergency Management and Homeland Security from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy in 2017. His decoration include the Navy/Marine Corp Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy/Marine Corp Achievement Medal (8 awards), and various campaign and personal awards.
