Command Master Chief
CMDCM Douglas Swift
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 11 Command Master Chief, Douglas Swift, is a native of Standish, Maine and reported to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois in 1995. He is a graduate of Aviation Structural Mechanic (Safety Equipment) “A” School and Naval Aircrew Candidate School.
Swift served his initial sea tour at Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 14, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, from 1996 to 1999. While serving at HM 14, he deployed on the USS Inchon (MCS 12) to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, followed by a deployment to the Arabian Gulf. His next sea tour was also in Norfolk at HM-14 from 2003 to 2008 where he completed two deployments to the Arabian Gulf. His next sea assignment was at HM-15 from 2012 to 2015 where he completed two tours to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations as the detachment leading chief petty officer. During this tour, he was promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer.
Swift reported to Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet staff in 2015 and assumed duties as the command senior enlisted leader in September 2016. Here he was selected to Command Senior Chief and Command Master Chief.
In his most recent assignment, Swift served as command master chief for USS Barry (DDG-52) as part of Forward Deployed Naval Forces – Japan from 2017 to 2020. During this tour, he completed three Seventh Fleet Patrols in the Indo-Pacific area of operations.
Ashore, Swift served at Helicopter Training Squadron (HT) 18 from 2000 to 2003 and Airborne Mine Countermeasures Weapons System Training School from 2008 to 2012 where he served as an instructor. During this tour, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and qualified as a master training specialist and a weapons and tactics instructor.
