Cmdr. Daniel Grover II
Cmdr. Daniel Grover, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1991. He served onboard the USS Kittiwake (ASR-13), the USS America (CV-66), and the USS Bataan (LHD-5) as an Electricians Mate (EM), until he was selected for the Seaman to Admiral Program in 1998. He attended Old Dominion University from 1999 until 2002 where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Business Administration and was commissioned in August, 2002. After completing flight school, Grover was designated as a naval aviator in December, 2004. He reported to the Airborne Mine Countermeasures Weapon Systems Training School (AWSTS) for Fleet Replacement pilot training in the MH-53E Sea Dragon in January, 2005.
He has completed operational assignments at the Vanguard of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 14 for his junior officer tour, with the Blackhawks of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 15 as a Sea Dragon Weapons and Tactics instructor (SWTI), and a second time around with the Vanguard of HM-14 for his department head tour. Grover has deployed for the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2006, JTF Lebanon 2006, Pacific Partnership 2007, Continuing Promise 2008, to Bahrain and South Korea. He has completed deployments as the officer in charge for RIMPAC 2014 and with HM-14’s detachment in Pohang, South Korea.
His shore assignments include a tour with AWSTS as an MH-53E FRS Instructor Pilot and with Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force (COMOPTEVFOR) as the Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Section Head within the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Division. Grover reported as the executive officer of Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 12 in July, 2018.
Grover’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit citations and campaign medals.
