Cmdr. Patrick J. Bouchoux


 

Executive OfficerCmdr. Patrick J. Bouchoux, a native of Great Falls, Virginia, graduated from Denison University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, and reported to Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida, for flight training in April 2008. He earned his designation as a Naval Flight Officer in December 2009.

Bouchoux began his first operational assignment with the “Black Knights” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154. He completed deployments aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in 2011 and USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in 2013, supporting Operations New Dawn, Tomodachi, and Enduring Freedom.

In 2013, he was selected to attend the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Course at the Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in Fallon, Nevada. After graduating in April 2014, he remained on staff as the Navy’s subject matter expert for Strike-Fighter Defensive Countermeasures.

Bouchoux returned to sea duty in January 2017 as Training Officer with the “Red Rippers” of VFA-11. During this tour, he deployed aboard USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and served as Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 1 Standardization Cell Lead. In 2018, he was recognized as the Naval Flight Officer of the Year for Naval Air Force Atlantic.

Bouchoux attended the College of Naval Command and Staff at the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated in 2019 as the Honor Graduate, earning a master’s degree in defense and strategic studies with a concentration in Russian maritime affairs, and completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I.

In February 2020, he reported to the “Fighting Swordsmen” of VFA-32 at NAS Oceana, Virginia, for his Department Head tour. He deployed aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) in 2020 and 2021 in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and served as Administration Officer, Assistant Operations Officer, and Maintenance Officer.

Bouchoux reported to United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. He served in the Joint Fires Division of the J3 Operations Directorate and was the Deputy Chief of a joint, interagency operations and intelligence fusion task force charged with countering malign activity across Europe.

He was selected for squadron command in March 2023 and reported to the “Red Rippers” of VFA-11 as Executive Officer in October 2025.

Bouchoux has accumulated more than 2,300 flight hours and 600 arrested landings in the F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. His decorations include the Strike/Flight Air Medal (two awards), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), and multiple campaign, unit, and service awards.
