Executive Officer
Cmdr. Mitchell Parmentier
Cmdr. Mitchell Parmentier is a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2006).
He attended Officer Candidate School at NS Newport, RI and was commissioned in May 2008. CDR Parmentier attended NFO flight training in Pensacola, FL and received his Wings of Gold in February 2010. He selected for training in the FA-18F Super Hornet with the “Gladiators” of Strike Fighter squadron (VFA)-106 at NAS Oceana, Virginia.
Cmdr. Parmentier’s first operational tour was with the “Diamondbacks” of VFA-102 as part of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) stationed at NAF Atsugi, Japan from May 2011 to June 2014 where he completed three Western Pacific deployments aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) with Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5). During this tour he qualified as a Joint Terminal Air Controller (JTAC), Forward Air Controller (Airborne) and Mission Commander.
Following his first fleet tour, he completed the Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor (SFTI) course at the Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) in Fallon, NV. In September 2014, he reported to the “Vampires” of VX-9, stationed at NAWS China Lake, California where he served as Training Officer. While there, he led numerous operational test flights on software and weapons systems, including AIM-9X block II, H-12 System Configuration Set (SCS), and AIM-120D AMRAAM. He also coordinated Tactics Development and Evaluation (Tac D&E) efforts with NAWDC and TOPGUN.
In May 2017 he reported to the “Black Knights" of VFA-154 stationed at NAS Lemoore, California as an operational Training Officer. During his tour, he completed a combat deployment as part of Carrier Air Wing Eleven (CVW-11) aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) in support of Fifth fleet operations and Operation Inherent Resolve.
Upon selection for Department Head, he returned to Japan and the “Diamondbacks” of VFA-102 in September 2021. While there, he completed two deployments aboard USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) with Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) in support of Seventh and Fifth fleet operations including Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. He qualified as Air Wing Strike Lead, Air Interdiction Mission Commander, and Rescue Mission Commander (RMC).
In November 2021, he reported to NATO’s Joint Force Command Brunssum, Netherlands where he served as a staff officer in the J-5 directorate as TOPFAS Functional Manager. In July 2024 he took over as Executive Officer of VFA-11.
Cmdr. Parmentier has accumulated over 2,600 flight hours and over 600 carrier arrested landings. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Strike-Flight Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3), and various unit, theater, and campaign awards. He is married to Gabrielle and is the father of Hawker and Cru Parmentier.
